The 2004 Telethon Metropolitan Home is well underway and is on target for an early opening ready for the traditional Telethon weekend later this year.

Perceptions, the 2-storey home builders, have again dedicated their expertise and the generosity of their suppliers and trades to the Telethon cause, with an exciting design that is sure to attract huge buyer interest.

The 2004 Telethon metro home is being built at Jindalee adjacent to Quinn's Rocks off Marmion Avenue in Perth's northern coastal suburbs. Land for the Home has been generously donated by Brighton Beachside Estate. David Grant talks with developer, Brian Newman, who explains that this is the first opportunity for Brighton Beachside to be involved in Telethon

A modern contemporary home with an 'earthy' feel, this eye catching design in its much sought after coastal location, is set to raise the benchmark on what is Telethon's biggest fundraiser.

Designer Steve Radalj and the Perceptions design team have embraced the challenge of creating this functional yet striking home anticipated to raise more than half a million dollars for the special children of Western Australia.

"This is Perceptions' sixth Telethon home, and each year we seek to set a new standard in both design and functionality. It is a welcome challenge for us and I know I speak on behalf of all employees of the company when I say that it is also an extremely rewarding one," he said.

The home has a stunning sand rendered fašade with random patterned stone feature and cedar lined portico. Comprised of four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, the design features several 'spotlight' areas including recessed display areas and an internal rockery and ornamental garden.

Several vantage points overlook the garden area and below ground pool, including the balcony leading from the upstairs activity room, the main bedroom and the timber lined alfresco day lounge.

All bedrooms are generous sizes with no space spared in the interests of luxury, and bathrooms and kitchen are equipped with only the finest fixtures and fittings.

J-Corp Executive General Manager Paul Arndt says that without the assistance of suppliers, the home could not be possible.

"Our major partners in this project, the developers of Brighton Beachside Estate at Jindalee, have provided a prime block of land, just 30 minutes north of Perth. It is the fourth time we have had coastal land to build on, and this block is particularly exciting as the interest in Jindalee has been enormous.

"Other partners who have made a significant contribution include Midland Brick, BGC Building Supplies, CASF for their contribution of Corian benchtops, Ford and Doonan Air Conditioning and Exclusive Pools.

"For their assistance we give our heartfelt thanks and look forward to a result that we can feel not only proud of, but one which we know adds an enormous addition to the enrichment of needy children's lives in Western Australia," he said.

Century 21 will be conducting home opens in September and October prior to the auction of this superb home on the Telethon weekend, October 16 and 17.
