Apple and Rhubarb Crumble - Retro Style
Serves 4

You will need large bowl and heatproof dish

Ingredients from Claremont Fresh

Topping
- 4 tbls plain flour
- 2 tbls sugar
- 100gms butter
- Using your fingers, combine all of the above in a small bowl.

Mixture
- Large tin of apples 680grams
- 4 stalks of chopped Rhubarb
- Sugar to taste needs to be enough or your rhubarb will be tart!
- Dash of Pilgrims Balsamic Vinegar
- 1 small bunch of basil leaves

Method
Cut rhubarb into bite sized bits, mix apples, rhubarb, sugar, herbs and balsamic vinegar together. Place into ovenproof dish. Top with crumble, and then bake in a pre-heated oven 180C for 30 to 40 minutes until it bubbles (like jam) and goes golden brown. Serve warm with fresh cream or icecream with a chilled glass of Chardonnay from Salitage yum yum. Try adding thyme for a different taste.
