In 1995 the Kalgoorlie Prospectors & Leaseholders Association set out to establish a visible icon to mark the importance of prospecting and mining to Australia's past, present and future.

As part of Australia's Centenary of Federation celebrations, the Australian Prospectors and Miners Hall of Fame was opened in 2001.

The Hall of Fame has succeeded in offering visitors a truly 'hands on' and unique experience with interactive and educational galleries and fun activities for all ages.

There are wonderful displays and exhibitions of early mining life and to give you an idea of what mining is really like, you can take an underground tour of an historic mine.

You can also watch a recreated gold pour and even pan for gold yourself.

The Hall of Fame is a great day out in Kalgoorlie and a terrific interactive way to learn all about the mining industry. You can visit seven days a week between 9am and 4.30pm. The centre is easy to find on Goldfields Highway and if you don't have your own transport you can join a Goldrush Tour or get a special taxi fare from the Kalgoorlie Visitors Centre.
