You'll be stunned by the beauty of country Western Australia this week, as the Home in WA team visits the wonderful Chittering Valley. This delightful rural district is right at it's peak at this time of the year because this is wildflower country.

The Chittering Valley is just an hour's drive north of Perth along the Great Northern Highway and takes in the towns of Bullsbrook, Muchea, Bindoon and Wannamal as you head north.

A great starting point for all the important information is the Chittering Information Centre right in the heart of Bindoon and the friendly, helpful people there, will set you up for a superb day in the country.

David Grant talks to the President of Shire of Chittering, Jan Stagbouer about the reasons why people fall in love with the region and want to stay. Jan explains the challenges faced by the Shire in maintaining the balance between a rural environment and an acceptable rate of progress in the Shire.

David also visits the New Chittering Museum, one of the many of the delightful tourist attractions in the Chittering Valley. This private collection of memorabilia was donated to the Shire by the Dickerson family. Toppie Dickerson, who was born in Bindoon, collected all these items on her travels around Australia. The Museum is open Wednesday Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4.30 pm It's just off Great Northern Highway in Bindoon.

So we strongly suggest a tour of the beautiful, serene Chittering Valley.

But as the Shire of Chittering warns, "Come for a day, but you may want to stay! We were all visitors once ourselves"
