The Master Builders Association recently held their annual Excellence in Construction Awards, the biggest event of the year for non-residential building sector. Executive Director, Michael McLean said the entries for the Awards were overwhelming, with more than 50 outstanding projects nominated, worth over $400 million.

This week in the Building Ideas of Home in WA, Richard Repp talks to Michael McLean and other prominent guests about the overall winner, the WA Maritime Museum at Fremantle, built by Multiplex Constructions as well as the Regional winner and Sub-Contractor of the Year.

The Maritime Museum, located at the mouth of the Swan River at Fremantle, is now a true Western Australian icon, housing much of the State's maritime memorabilia and the centre point of the port city's historic precinct.

Looking further ahead, Home in WA is looking forward to travelling to Geraldton and the State's Mid West in a fortnight's time. One of the feature stories in a special coverage of this important region, will be a prominent local building company which also figured prominently in the Regional categories at the MBA Awards.
