Staying active and having fun are good for you no matter what your age. And that's exactly why Bethanie chose to host one of the biggest baking competitions on the WA calendar at this year's Have A Go Day.

The Big Bethanie Bake Off was open to Bethanie residents and to all WA school students and the finalists presented their recipes to a panel of celebrity judges in the battle for the title of Big Bethanie Bake Off Champion.
Competitors were required to enter their favourite old family recipes and were marked on creativity, appeal of dish, nutritional content, and the story behind their recipe. The idea behind the event was to involve both young and old in order to bridge the generation gap at the same time giving Bethanie residents an opportunity to socialise and engage.
Competition was fierce as entries were judged by an expert panel that included Channel 7's own Monika Kos, as it boiled down to just eight finalists. A winner was chose from each category - student and resident - and they took home some great prizes as well as that all-important Championship title.

And as their 60th anniversary celebrations draw to a close this year, the team at Bethanie are already planning more unique and exclusive activities and events to make 2015 even bigger than 2014.
