Michael McLean, Director of MBA spoke to Richard Repp about the state of the Housing Industry in WA, the MBA Construction Awards tonight at The Hyatt Regency and also an update on the indemnity insurance fiasco after the collapse of HIH.

Mr McLean said, "The housing industry has rebounded resiliantly after the initial impact of the GST and housing building approvals are on the increase" Mr McLean also commented that a record number of entries have been received for the Construction Awards with an excellent quality of projects....and he called upon the Government to act urgently on the subject of builders indeminity, predicting that without firm acction, the industry in WA will never be the same again. "Insurers are being selective in who they cover and who they don't, meaning that many builders are not able to commence new projects", Mr McLean said.

Richard Repp also talked with interior designer, Jackie Batley, who is donating her services as a consultant to the MBA Show Home at Mt.Henry, Salter Point. Jackie has started selecting floor and wall tiles to kitchen and bathroom with timber floor nominated to the main entry foyer.
