Sustainability is becoming increasingly important to today’s consumer, particularly when it comes to housing.  And there are lots of things that builders can do to make your home more sustainable.

Romina De Santis from the Master Builders tells us: “Some things that are straight forward, while others are more costly up front, but deliver a payback in the longer term for the environment or in savings to owners.   And there are lots of things to think about. Passive solar design, materials selection, water conservation, energy efficiency, waste management and framing and structure are just some of these.

The Master Builders Association has a 2 day Green Living Course that covers these subjects. Green Living builders are shown the basic principles of being sustainable, how to assess the situation and develop goals and strategies.   We cover waste management planning and how to select materials.  Green Living builders also know how to reduce their water usage, choosing alternative sources and maximize effectiveness and renewable energy through the construction process.”

The next Green Living Course starts on October 21st.  Register by contacting the Master Builders Association on 9476 9800 or go to www.mbawa.com.
