This week on the show we feature the new Quattro Estate in the new Queens Park . Quattro is the latest Urban renewal project by the Department of Housing and Works. Their aim was to redevelop an older social housing estate into something new …to create a more attractive living environment to reduce the department’s rental presence and encourage home ownership.

The new Queens Park is nice and close to the City but still connected with nature. There’s plenty of bush land to be enjoyed within the Estate as well as the near by Lesmurdie Falls and Bickley Reservoir.

The layout of the subdivision is based on the Live-able Neighbourhood policy. Some of the streets have been reconfigured to provide a more open layout and Cul de sacs have been removed increasing surveillance and decreasing potential pockets for crime.

The Quattro Estate has been developed in joint partnership between the Department, Peet and the City of Canning to reduce the social housing in the area and to create available land for a new balanced social mix and to encourage home ownership in the area.

Whether you like walking, shopping, kicking a footy or dining out in the City or trendy Vic Park, Quattro presents a great option for families, couples and singles alike.
There’s 267 lots available and the lots range in size from 400sqm to 580sqm big by today’s standards.

We also take a look at the Quattro Sustainable Display home which is in the Quattro Estate. Designed by Solar Dwellings and built by Redink Homes the Quattro Sustainable Home is also the sales center for the Estate.  Some of the key features you’ll find in the home is the solar powering by Passive solar design, energy efficient and natural lighting, Rainwater harvesting and grey water re-use system. As well as energy efficient fixtures, fixings and appliances.

You can find this display home and the  Quattro Estate on Wharf Street in Queens Park It’s definitely worth the visit and who knows, you might even end up moving in.
