The Australian Prospectors and Mining Hall of Fame is located in Kalgoorlie and was a joint project between Federal and State Governments as well as a host of mining industry and private members and supporters. This fabulous exhibition was opened to the public in 2001 to mark our Centenary of Federation.

Last week we showcased the impressive array of educational and interactive displays inside the buildings, today we take a look outside at the collection of magnificent old preserved buildings and displays that represent the past, including a beautiful Garden of Remembrance, which is a celebration of the many cultures and nationalities which worked side by side to evolve the mining industry in this region.

Ross Dunkerton gets to enjoy a trip down a real mine with a personal mining tour guide in a real cage and he tries his luck at panning for gold which all visitors are welcome to do at any time throughout the day. You even get to keep any bits that you find. We also see how a gold bar is poured and the ingot created.

This exhibition is a truly unique testament to the mining industry and is an absolute must to visit if you’re in the region.
