This week on the show we are back in good old Kalgoorlie.
If you’ve never been to Kalgoorlie this week’s show might have you sold on the idea of a visit some day soon. There’s so much history to learn about and just about everyone here has a story to tell. We visit Goldrush Tours during our time in Kalgoorlie and have a chat to General Manager Guy Brownlee.
Goldrush Tours started in 1973 and when the current owner George Sampson took over the business in July 1994 it only consisted of 3 Coaster buses and one 45 seat Hino bus. Today Goldrush Tours have grown to become the largest privately owned Coach Company in Regional WA. They have a current fleet of 44 vehicles which includes 10 x 5 star coaches plus we have 8 new coaches and 3 new deluxe Coaster buses arriving in September.
Also under the banner of GRT Mine Site Transfers they currently move between 1400 and 1500 miners a day to mines in the vicinity of Kalgoorlie. Plus have a depot in Leinster transporting hundreds of BHP Billiton workers daily. They operate around the clock 24/7
Goldrush Tours currently employ more than 60 qualified and government endorsed drivers and are continually developing new staff to ensure continuity of their service. Their management team has more than 100 years combined experience which ensures that their service is safe, reliable and comfortable.
Goldrush Tours can tailor itineraries to suit special interest groups or individuals and can arrange a private charter Australia wide on short notice and can comfortably transport 1500 people at any one time.
Goldrush Tours also have some great day tours available including the History & Heritage Tour where you visit the mining hall of fame, the super pit lookout, Hannans North mine, the infamous Red Light District and you even get to view a gold pour and try gold panning. Plus we have the Lake Ballard Experience where we visit the Ora Banda Hotel and enjoy a genuine Aussie BBQ. We travel through the gold mining area, view 51 sculptures by artist Antony Gormley and then enjoy chilled Champagne and light supper as we witness the sun setting across the salt lake from Snake Hill…this is a surreal experience you’ll never forget.
