The MBA is constantly aware of the need to keep Builders and contractors  up to date on proposed and legislation that effects our industry. The MBA’s Building and Home Improvement Show – at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (which starts Fri 23rd May 2008) will feature an Industry Breakfast where all Industry participants can come along and find out the latest on the ‘Residential Safety Management Plan’ to be introduced from 1st October 2008.

The plans will involve the need for a residential building site – with 5 or more workers on site at any one time – to have a ‘Safety Management Plan’ in place outlining the specific site policies and procedures.

You may know there are penalties up to $625,000, especially if an offence under the OS & H legislation has caused death or serious harm.

What you probably don’t know is that the recent changes to the OS & H regulations expose you to fines of up to $62,500 even where there have
been no injuries – simply by failing to comply with the regulations. The new amendments impose a raft of new responsibilities.
