These days, people are becoming more and more aware of what’s going on in the world around them.  Whether it be international worries, festivals or even the world’s environment – and the West Australian Department of Housing and Works have gone one step further.   We either start to preserve this atmosphere or the days of planet Earth being capable of sustaining human life are numbered!

In 2006, the Department of Housing and Works introduced 5 star standards for houses, which aimed to significantly reduce the amount of energy used for heating or cooling homes.  Now, new legislation takes things one step further.
5 Star Plus is a State Government initiative designed to improve the energy and water efficiency of our homes. It is based around two new Codes: the Energy Use in Houses Code and the Water Use in Houses Code and as of the 1st September 2007 is now mandatory for all new approved homes.

Five star plus reinforces the existing Five Star energy requirements.  Additionally it reduces the waste of water by introducing such features as water efficient showerheads and tap fittings, dual flush toilets and pool blankets for all new pools.
