If you want to get out to the Kalgoorlie Goldfields region using an economical means of transport, you can’t go past the Transwa Prospector.  Reaching speeds of up to 160km/h, the train will take you in relaxed comfort all the way to Kalgoorlie in as little as 6 and a half hours.

The Prospector is a super-smooth ride on the most sophisticated, passenger-friendly train service in Australia.  When the first Prospector came into service in 1971, television and cinema advertising hailed it as a modern rail link to WA’s Goldfields frontier.  The carriages themselves are first class with enough leg room for even the tallest of people.  There’s also a range of food and beverages available on the voyage too, which makes it all the more appetizing! Meals are available throughout the duration of the ride, otherwise there are other hot and cold snacks available – including a bar and beverage counter.

After 40 years of transporting about 3.3 million passengers and traveling more than 24.4 million km’s on the journey between Perth and Kal, the Prospector has earnt it’s place in WA history.

Next time you’re considering a family holiday, or just want to relax and escape the rush of today’s world, jump on the Prospector and head out to Kalgoorlie – just enough time on the train to really start to relax and you don’t even have to think about travel directions!

Transwa is the Western Australian Government’s regional public transport provider. Linking 275 destinations statewide, Transwa operates as a passenger train service between Perth and regional centres at Kalgoorlie, Northam and Bunbury and operates a public transport coach service network to Kalbarri in the north and extending south and south-east to Esperance, Albany and Augusta. Bookings are available online or on our Bookings number.
