An extremely generous initiative of the Housing Industry Association, dozens of Perth building businesses and the HIA's Apprentice Training Scheme will has help brighten the lives of the families of sick children and their familiess.

The HIA set out to utilise the skills of their young apprentices and members, by building a holiday retreat for use by Ronald McDonald House. That the accommodation centre where the families of children with cancer, leukaemia and heart disease stay in Perth, while their children are receiving treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital.

The transportable home was constructed under the guidance of Durabuilt, a leading builder of transportables in Western Australia. The Australian colonial-style house consists of two bedrooms, loungeroom, kicthen bathroom and laundry.

Ronald McDonald House vice-president, Glenn Baker thanked the HIA, its apprentices and all contractors connected with the project for the generousity, time and effort. "It has always been a dream of miine to provide our families of sick children with a reatreat - a "home Away from Home" where they can go for a weekend, a week or a fornight, to spend quality time together and de-stress, particularly after a session of hospitalisation and treatment. Now, thanks to this wonderful initiative, that dream has come true"
