When votes are called for to find the favourite sea-change and holiday destination in Western Australia, the Shire of Busselton with its towns, beaches and unique industries, is invariably high on the list.

It’s that wonderful stretch of coastal plain from Busselton itself through to the towns of Dunsborough and Yallingup and surrounding districts, that is a major part of the population explosion in the state’s beautiful south west.

The Busselton Shire is growing as fast as any other region in Australia and plans are in place to cope with a doubling of the population to around 50,000 permanent residents, by the year 2020.

The Shire has in place a Strategic Plan to manage to future growth, including the development of “node communities”. Removed back from the delicate coastal strip, to help ensure the integrity of the coastline.

The Shire is working cooperatively with State and Federal Government on a number of issues, including the restoration of the tourism icon, the Busselton Jetty. Public comment is welcome at all times.
