The Master Builders Association of Western Australia has created an fantastic new initiative designed to play an important role in addressing the acknowledged skills shortage on the West Australian building and construction industry.

The concept is TRADESTART, which is a series of planned short courses in a range of skills and trades, including bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering etc. Each course will be held over six weeks under the guidance of Regional Training Services in Carlisle, Perth.

The first TRADESTART course will be Bricklaying and commences on July 25th. The course only costs $900 and could be the step you take into the Building Industry.

Upon satisfactory completion of a course, participants will then be eligible for pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, labouring positions and additional skills training with a participating building company. Already, leading home builders Scott Park Homes and Plunkett Homes have committed to assisting with additional training of graduates.

TRADESTART is open to people of all ages who have in interest in working in the building industry. For more information, contact Gavin Forster at the Master Builders Association (WA) on 9476 9800
